Online News Startups: an interactive database
The Columbia Journalism Review maintains a searchable database of online news startups in the USA, information on location, business and revenue model, size, affiliations and much more. We imported this data into Silk. We have also added a newer collection of startups tagged with "journalism" on AngelList. Use this data to analyse and visualize the patterns behind the new frontiers of US digital journalism.
Note: This data was collected during 2014 and may be dated. If anyone wants to take over this project, we're happy to show they how to Silk to do this and to help them maintain it.

About this site
This site was created with Silk, a platform for easily structuring information, so that it can be organized, queried, visualized and shared in a few clicks. The Silk team built this as a demonstration project, using Import.io to collect the data from the Online News Startups Guide by the Columbia Journalism Review, and the AngelList API to retrive information on the newest journalism startups. Everything has been cleaned thanks to the amazing OpenRefine.
You can find the data imported in this Silk here: make a copy and use it for your own Silk project!
